🗺️ The power of a map

A map has several advantages:

  1. It shows what we know,
  2. it shows what we don't know,
  3. it guides us.

A map must be relevant

If a map doesn't offer these advantages, it means it's not relevant to the subject. For example, a map that's too large or too detailed won't help us understand a nuance within a tiny subsystem.

Examples in work

  • Standards: a written understanding of the best way to make something,
  • MIFD: Material and Information Flow Diagram and its Analysis is a way to perceive the complexity of: what's being produced and what triggers this production.
